Mika looked into the small window of a classroom door, and a smile broke across her face suddenly. She opened the door and took a deep breath. The smell of waxy crayons, and acrylic paint hit her nostrils and she stepped inside the classroom eagerly. She looked around and shut the door with a soft click behind her. She stood there and leaned against the door for a second, this was the place she felt the most at home in any school. She ran her finger tips along the edge of the tables as she walked towards the front of the classroom.
This was Mika's second year in this art class. Her second year, in the same classroom. She knew where everything was, it wasn't like things got moved very often here. That was ok with Mika, she liked it that way. How things are now, everything in relatively the same place, Mika wouldn't have to wait for the bell to ring, or for the teacher to explain what was going on. She used her toes to pull a chair away from one of the long desks that was attached to the walls.
She grabbed a piece of paper about her arms length and then slid into the chair she had pulled out for herself. She pulled a few sketch pencils out of a pocket of her red vest and slid her goggles down over her eyes. A smile covered her face and she slid the pencil between her teeth as she stared at the paper and tried to decide what to draw. She tapped her fingers on her soft pink hair as she stared intently at the paper, and rolled the pencil between her teeth.
'What to draw, what to draw?' She wondered not paying attention to the others around her as the classroom began to slowly fill up, and the bell rang.
