Starfire didn't even bother to go up and eat. She just sat at a table. She groaned silently and slammed her head down with a painfully loud thump, but the alien acted as if it didn't phase her even though it hurt really bad. Her hair fell over her like a curtain. She wore sneakers with a green wavy skirt, like Japanese school girl would wear, just shorter and a white short sleeved shirt. It was safe to say the Tamaranian was not having a good day.
Star lifted her head a bit as she heard a hand slam on the table. She looked up to see a blond-haired girl, tall and thin with deep blue eyes, glaring at her. "This is our table, beat it newbie." She commanded. The already bad day was getting worse for the alien. "And who might you think you are to give me such commands?" The angered Star snapped. "Let's try the captain of the cheerleader squad which automatically makes me top of the social class." She told her with a snobby laugh. "I do not understand.. I have never heard of such a class.." she said and the girl just laughed along with the group behind her. "Of course you wouldn't, someone with disgusting red hair like yours couldn't possibly understand. Now get yourself a new table, loser." Star clenched her teeth, and tried to keep herself from her eyes glowing. She stood up and slammed down at another empty table, almost making it crack.
Star sat there as she thought over the girl's words over and over and gradually tears swelled up in her eyes. None over-flowed, but they were there. She listened as the girls made fun of her some more. Her heart beat painfully ached in her chest as she fought to hold tears back, really wishing Robin was here. She swallowed and her breathing got shaky. "Aw, is the poor baby crying? Grow up, you're pathetic! Sitting there looking as poor and as pitiful as you can for attention. I bet you want every guy with you don't you? How selfish. What a bad person.." The girl said coldly.
Star's tears dried up immediately. Now they glowed green, but she faced towards the window, so nobody could see them. She stood up. "You will do the shutting up, and apologizing.." Star ordered. The room went silent, and the cheerleader laughed. "Oh, and are you going to make me? I don't think so. Go and play your touch act somewhere else." She said as she waved her hand away like a mother would an annoying child when she was on the phone.
"I am not kidding. I shall give you one last chance.. Apologize and you shall be forgiven." Star said again. "I'm not going to waste my breath on the revolting likes of you." She said, looking at Star then her eyes drawing wide. Starfire was facing towards her and holding the lunch table high above her head. "You have had your chance!" She said as she threw the table with a grunt, sounding like 'hryah!'. the girl screamed and ran out of the way. Everyone got up from the tables and ran off, so Star grabbed another by the metal bar and threw that one too with a spin. She looked around angrily, teeth clenched tightly as her eyes were a sharp, pointed green. The normally friendly alien was infuriated at the world with almost seemingly murderous intents.

“You know,—” “No” “But I didn’t even— “Why don’t you just leave me alone?”
And she entered the one place he couldn’t exactly follow her into: the girl’s washroom. Typical. Did she think that was new? Because it was not, he’d seen it five times in the past five hours. Yeah, guess what? That was the fifth rejection of the day. His ears dropped and the rest of his body followed, eyes gazing at the floor. He was actually excited for school. Not for the homework, detention, workload and teachers, surprisingly enough, but the girls. This place was swarming with them and he believed—no joke—that one of them would say ‘yes’. Ha! Clearly, he was just delirious. I mean, come on. This place was also full of guys. Guys without green skin, elf-like ears and fangs. The thing was, Beast Boy was a social animal, the type that needed to be around others. The thought of being alone in the future literally scared him, as silly as it sounds. So “giving-up” wasn’t in his dictionary, no matter how often he got rejected. If he was charming enough, funny enough and confident enough, a date would occur eventually, right? So he did his best to crack jokes now and then, use his manners and fake confidence in hopes that it would someday work. Right now, however, was time for a break.
With that, he made his way to the doors that lead to the cafeteria and pushed them open, sorrow forcing him to struggle longer than usual to accomplish that. When he was through, his eyes scanned the room, looking for a familiar face. As surprising as it may be for him, he was really tired of conversing with new people and was in a desperate need to sit with his old Titan friends. He had absolutely no classes with them—NONE—being 15 and the youngest. Therefore, he was apart from them every day from the beginning to the end of school, with lunch being the only exception. It was the only time he could be himself—well, sort of—and talk without having to ponder every sentence before uttering it. UGH! How he hated that. He just seriously wasn’t used to thinking before acting. It really wasn’t his thing and boy was it hard to do. It also required a whole lot of energy, thus tiring him out quickly. Yeah, overall, not fun. You know what else was cool about the Titans? They didn’t taunt, laugh at [he was green for crying out loud] or reject him like the rest of the school appeared to enjoy doing. Sure, they teased him in their own way, but it was friendly. He missed that.
His eyes finally found a face he knew well: Starfire. She was sitting alone with her back to him, but he would recognize that red hair anywhere. “Hey, Kor!” He called with a big toothy grin, thankfully remembering to use her real name. He was about to walk up to her when—well, it happened. She begun by yelling “you have had your chance” and, before Beast Boy even had time to wonder what [or to whom for that matter—it couldn’t be him, could it?] she was talking about, she threw a table. Yup. She threw a table. Beast Boy’s jaws dropped and he just stood there, staring at the scene unfold, initially too shocked to do or say anything. After she threw her second table, however, he just had to step in. Acting on instincts, he raced to her side and tapped her on the arm. “Uhhh…Kor? Wanna talk about it?” Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it was now time for philosophical-Beast Boy to show his face! “Cause, sometimes, it’s best to just use words.” You know, instead of playing with tables.

Starfire had at least enough of her own, calmness to realize not to use her powers other than her strength. Even so her eyes did glow a furious green as she picked another table up and threw it towards the one snob that spoke to her. The girl screamed as tears ran down her face. She ran out of the way.
Star could barely hear Beast boy speak to her, but his words had no effect on her rampaging mood. She threw another table, a deep growl in her throat. The girl screamed once more and did a fetal position in the corner as she sobbed. Star picked up another table and was prepared to toss it when she saw and heard the girl cry. Star's eyes widened, and she lowered the table, her eyes going back to their normal green. She placed the table down and slowly walked over to the girl.
"I am sorry... I never meant to scare you.." She said, placing a hand on her shoulder, giving her a sad look. The girl screamed again and smacked Star's hand away from her. "GET AWAY FROM ME YOU FREAK!" She screeched at her as she stumbled and ran away.
Star looked at her as she ran off, eyes full of pain, heart and stomach aching and twisting painfully. It was safe to say she hated school, and Star hates nothing! It was just nothing but pain and boring lectures all day that didn't help a thing. She wanted to go back to the Tower, but she had to go to school, all of them did.
Star picked up a table that she had thrown, face blank as she started to set the cafeteria back to the way it was before she went on a riot. It wasn't until she was done that she saw her green friend. Her eyes glistened with tears now as she started to break down into sobs as she fell to her knees. "I did not mean to.. I am sorry... Please do not be angry with me..." she said between her gasps for air, breathing shaky.

For a brief second—and I mean a reallybrief second—it looked like his words were actually going to have an effect on her. She was going to have a nice friendly chat with the girl she was so intent on injuring and then they would be best friends forevah! Then reality showed its face. Reality turned out to be Star grabbing yet another table and throwing it. “AHHHH!” was his high-pitched scream as he bolted out of the way. He wasn’t the only person either. The few extra-hungry souls still eating were now dashing out of the cafeteria, this scene clearly too much for them. Beast Boy, Starfire and her special victim were soon the only ones in the room. Not even the cafeteria workers stayed. Behind one of the chairs, he witnessed the tossing of another table with a “kaaaaay…guess not.”to no one in particular. Yeah, she appeared to enjoy flinging tables too much to want to talk.
It was strange, coming to think of it. Star had always been the nice, friendly, patient Titan. Losing her sanity and chucking things everywhere uncontrollably just didn’t match with her usual personality. Ask him beforehand who he thought would be the first to crack and Starfire would have been his last choice. After all, the poor alien girl had been an outcast for years and was fairly used to it by now, unlike the rest of the Titans. While they might easily get annoyed at the new atmosphere, she should have been more patient. She always was. Throughout the three years that he’d known her, she hardly ever got pissed-off, even though she had plenty of reasons and opportunities to be so. This blond chick, who he guessed was what provoked her, must have been pretty talented in the getting-others-pissed-off field. Currently, she was clearly paying for it.
Right. He should probably do something or else this gal might end-up with a couple of broken bones. Before he even had time to come-up with a plan [which would have probably not been too successful anyways], Starfire suddenly stopped. He had no idea why, but it seriously didn’t matter. Slowly, he ventured out of his hiding spot, watching as she apologized. Great! So now the girl would say ‘it’s ok’ and—“Get away from me you freak”? Well, that wasn’t exactly ‘it’s ok’ but, coming to think of it, it’s probably more realistic. Poor Star. Noticing his friend’s pain-stricken eyes, he couldn’t help but feel the same. “Kor?” was asked with concern, eyes mirroring her grief. “Hey, it’s ok…” He simply hated seeing her so upset. She was always the cheerful one, the friend he could count on to brighten everyone’s mood. He simply couldn’t handle a distressed Starfire. There was no way. "You're not a freak. Just in case she needed reminding.
Apparently, she thought he was angry. Ha! Clearly, he wasn’t. I mean, yeah, she managed to get the whole school suspicious, but he was too focused on cheering her up to be the slightest bit annoyed right now. Later? Maybe. Okay, this was starting to head to the "too serious" road. The thing was, Beast Boy loathed getting all serious, even for comforting reasons. He always felt so awkward and—well—being serious involved some heartfelt discussions which he just couldn’t do. Jokes were the easy way out which was one reason why he liked them so much. Plus, this was Starfire. Unlike the rest, she would actually laugh. “OH! Wanna hear a joke?” The sadness in his face was replaced with excitement, a big grin quickly forming where there was a frown. For Beast Boy, outer-depression lasted a few minutes tops. Deciding not to wait for her response, he asked his joke anyways. “What’s smarter than a talking duck?” He seriously did enjoy duck-related jokes.

Star's wet eyes looked at the ground as she heard Beast Boy say her name, or half of her name. Well, fake name at least. She couldn't bring herself to say anything, her throat hurt from trying not to cry. she clenched her teeth slightly as she heard Beast Boy speak again. He said she wasn't a freak. A lot like something Beast Boy would say. She knew well that Beast Boy wasn't exactly the one to turn to for advice or consoling. Yet she shook her head.
"It is not just that.. I do no, get along with anyone, at this school.. I do not feel welcome.. I do not, enjoy it here.. I want to go back to the tower, with just all of us.. I do not want to come here anymore.." Star said. She really wasn't one to give up, but who knew teenagers could be so cruel? She could fight and survive just fine with real criminals, but she had no experience with, actual normal teens. Maybe the teens that actually made it through this were the strong ones, not her. Sure Blackfire would stick a knife through her every now and then, but these teens stabbed and twisted it deeply.
star sniffled a bit, rubbing her index finger underneath her nose even if it was dry, surprisingly since she was crying. He wanted to tell a joke. she didn't want to hear one. Standing up, she wandered over to Beast Boy and wrapped her arms tightly around him. "I am grateful to you Beast Boy, but I am not in the mood to hear your joke about a duck.. Um.." She said, looking down to the side and biting her lip. "Please.. Promise me, you will not tell Robin...?" She asked in a whisper. She closed her eyes as more tears streamed down, but this time because she felt bad. She hated keeping things from her friends, especially Robin, but y all means he could not know what just took place, he would be infuriated. Or would he be angry at the girl who provoked her? She wasn't sure, but Robin had enough issues and didn't need to worry about hers. This was something Star needed to learn how to deal with, and if walking it alone was what she had to do, so be it.

Oh. So she wasn’t crying because of what that chick had said, more because of school in general. Well, it really wasn’t a surprise that Starfire hated school considering the fact that he did too. He’d been trying to disregard his loathing for quite a while, always doing his best to look at the positives. That’s how he always dealt with his problems: ignore it. Pretend like it didn’t exist and laugh it off. After all, there were plenty of new faces and some were nice [like Elle whom he had met in detention one day]. Oh! He could also excel in any physical sport they had to do which was great since—well—he’d never been “first” in anything before. Having said that, it made him slightly less popular with his jealous classmates but...looking in the bright side here! At any case, with Starfire bringing-up the subject, Beast Boy couldn’t help but acknowledge his distaste for the place. He’d acknowledged it only once before and that was when he had written his first—and currently last—fake excuse note. Unfortunately, he’d forgotten the ever essential word: “sick”. Therefore, the note read please excuse Garfield Logan for being. Yeah. It really didn’t have its desired effect because—for once—he didn’t want to initiate laughter.
“Woah! And I thought I had it bad,” he said looking at the crying girl sympathetically. Then he moved his gaze around the room. “Bet cha this is where rainclouds come from...” It would make sense! Yeah! Much more than the stupid evaporation theory they had to learn. When she hugged him, he hugged back in hopes that it’ll comfort her because—lets face it—Beast Boy might have his moments now and then but, really, he’s terrible at the whole comforting thing. I mean, what could he say? “Don’t cry” seems too much like an order and typically didn’t work anyways, he’d already tried “it’s ok” and there didn’t seem to be a point for “wanna talk about it?” and its other variations for this specific instance. Not to mention how he always felt too awkward. Gahhh...why wouldn’t she listen to his jokes?
She didn’t want him to tell Robin? Understandable. Robin, being the Robin that he was, would have promptly got red in the face and a whole lot of pointless yelling would have followed. Personally, Beast Boy really didn’t want to tell the Dick either. “I wouldn’t tell anyone, Star” he answered with a smile. “I promise.” And when Beast Boy promised something, he kept it. Although he was a talker, secrets surprisingly never were too difficult for him to keep. Well, as long as the subject was never brought up. So if nobody ever said something like “hey! Starfire never threw tables at others in school. Interesting...”, then you can be 100% certain that the secret would be kept. If they did, then he’ll try his best to keep his mouth shut—normally by cooking-up an excuse to leave. All in all, however, he was a very trustworthy friend.
And—yeah—he referred to her as ‘Star’. Big deal! She had called him ‘Beast Boy’ and, plus, nobody else remained in the room. So pfft. If anyone asked, he could always say ‘Star’ was her nickname or something. Not that bizarre and he missed calling Starfire, Raven, Robin and Cyborg by their corresponding names. He was just too used to it. In a weird way, although [besides Raven, anyways] what they went by in school was their real name, calling them that was almost like not being himself. He hated pretending like he was someone else and being a hero—a Titan—was so engraved into him by now that going by “Garfield” was exactly what that was. It was only another thing about school that he hated. Being in “disguise” was really cool at first. Then it quickly got tiring. Why couldn’t they just go to school as heroes? Would that really be such a big deal? I mean, they could probably get extensions for “homeworks” [which was the stupidest thing he’s ever heard, by the way]. That football player-dude had just for playing a sport.
“Those football dudes are so lucky,” he groaned. “They get all the hotties...” There was a slight pause as it all registered. “DUDE! You think I can join the team?” And he posed like a football player, grinning from ear-to-ear as he awaited her response. This was genius. True genius! "Can't be that hard..." He’ll show the idiots what football really was. “The way those ‘jocks’ play, looks more like dancing to me.” ‘Jocks’ was a word he heard them called once. Really didn’t get it. The dictionary seems confused too. It seems to think it means ‘athlete’.
Clearly, he was trying his hardest to change the subject. Changing the subject, escaping reality, had always made him feel better. Perhaps it'll have the same effect on her?
