Friday night and unlike most evenings Robin actually felt a little nervous. Things had been almost non-stop since Tokyo and as much as Dick had enjoyed the time he had managed to get with Star he regretted that it was only small things like movie night or a pizza after patrols.
No more though, if he was being forced to be a normal teen and attend school then he would make sure that he had a normal teens dating life. Which meant spending time with Star as normal couples do.
It had taken him an hour to get ready, which was unheard of for the boy. Robin was always sure about everything even down to simple things like what to wear and what to say but for some reason that went out the window when it came to Starfire. Never in a million years had he thought he'd end up dating a girl never mind one from a different planet.
But the hour had been spent well Dick thought, his hair was done and his clothes looked good on him though the boy was aware the people inside the diner were looking at him funny. Rubbing the back of his neck Robin turned and paced a little, he really wanted this night to go well. After all it would be Star's first earth date and he was the one showing her how these things went.
Adjusting his jacket again for the tenth time in two minutes Dick took a deep breath. Nothing to be worried about, not a thing. He took down super villains, how bad could a date be?

Starfire literally would fly through the tower, unaware of how she wanted to look. she wasn't exactly used to wearing Earth clothing, the only time she really had was the one night when she had went to prom to look out for Robin, which was who she was dressing up for tonight. despite the panic she felt pulsing through her, she felt very happy and excited. Which was another reason why she was running late, she kept twirling around in her room because of how happy she felt.
She shook her head. "You can not be late!" She yelled at herself as she started to go through the clothes she got in order to go to high school with the rest of the Titans. she sighed, and decided to go with a purple dress, like the color she often wore, seeing of how it was her favorite right next to pink. The sleeves were similar to how her prom dress was, just not sparkly and it was much short, going up to her lower thigh. Was she done? No.
Her bright green eyes looked at the clock, still gleaming with excitement as she saw she still had time. Star, still having no shoes yet, raced in the bathroom. She started to play around with her hair a bit. She finally went for it to be in a low ponytail and having it hang over one or her shoulders. Now that her hair was done, she went to go and place some shoes on her feet, settling for the same light purple high heels she wore on prom night. Finally she was ready.
Happily walking down the street, Star approached the destination they settled for and opened the door, smiling widely and brightly when she spotter Robin inside. Walking over, almost running pretty much, she hugged him. "Robin!~" She chirped happily.

Robin looked up as the door opened and smiled, widely. Another trait that he wasn't known for. Smiling. Yet spending time around Star seemed to make him smile for no good reason other than she made him happy.
"You look amazing Star" Robin smiled as they hugged he even took the moment to kiss her cheek lightly. Giant robots were so much easier than this he caught himself thinking.
"I'm sorry we're not eating somewhere fancier but since we're doing the 'normal' teen thing I thought here might be nice and then go see a movie?" Dick smiled and slipped his hand into hers with a light squeeze. The simple gesture of holding hands had been one of the first things he'd had to get used to after the kiss that started it all off. The one that had cemented the fact they liked each other and no matter how much he wanted to put being a hero first Robin was no longer able to deny his feelings.
Motioning to the table he'd picked for them at the back of the diner. Not to hide them but to let them talk in private, Dick had even talked the manager into giving them some candles since it was out the way. "We're sitting there, hope its ok. I thought it would be good to get some peace and quiet for us for a change. Not like theres much chance of that in the tower with Beast Boy and Cyborg around."
Walking to the table the boy pulled out Star's seat first "You sit here" Waiting till she sat he pushed the chair in a little, trying to remember all those lessons Bruce had given him on proper manners. Taking his own seat he couldn't help but laugh a little "I'm so bad at this, guess we have lots to learn at the same time for a change."

Starfire returned the smile that she received from Robin as she walked inside. She couldn't help it when her heat skipped a beat.
"I thank you, you look the good yourself!" She told him, blushing slightly as he pecked her cheek, but still smiled, heart beating rapidly now. She honestly felt quite light-headed.
Star's green eyes looked up at him, and now it was her turn to kiss his cheek, only hers was closer to his lips. "I do not mind where we eat as long as we are together.~" She told him reassuringly as she slightly tightened her grip on his hand as well when their fingers laced together.
Following him to their table, she watched the flickering candles in the back as she listened to him. She laughed, couldn't help it. "That is most true!" She agreed with another laugh. Beast Boy and Cyborg were the two loudest in the team when together, or in Beast Boy's case, anytime. Still, she loved them like family and accepted them no matter how loud.
Star sat down when her seat was pulled out with a nod as she was then pushed in slightly. she still had a smile painted on her lips as she watched him take his seat. He then laughed slightly, and she tilted her head, blinking at him. Listening, she reached her hand across the table to hold his as she smiled wider. "Do not be concerned, you are doing fine. I am most sure that we will learn how to become 'normal', together."

There was something about Star's laugh that always amazed the human every time he heard it. People laugh because they find something funny but when Kori did it there was a sense of innocent and sheer joy which was something Dick had never thought existed before he had met the alien. It was one of those traits that had caught his attention from the moment they had first met, she was just unlike anything on this planet. Like she wasn't tainted by normal life on Earth at all. Living in Gotham tended to give most people a darker outlook on things. So finding someone like Starfire was like finding the light at the end of a dark and dangerous tunnel.
The touch of her hand snapped him out his thoughts with a smile "Normal. Not sure I want to be normal or even know how to be like everyone else. I think I'd settle for just being us and finding how that meshes together. I've never dated anyone before. You were my first kiss so I'm really new at this. Really not used to doing things I'm not trained in."
It was then that the waitress rolled over on her skates which stopped Robin talking about his insecurities and put the topic back on the date ahead of them. "Can I take your drink order?" The waitress smiled at the couple, wasn't often you saw two teenagers trying to have a romantic meal in a place like this.
Robin looked over at Star and realized that neither had looked at the menu since sitting down which was fine for him since he was going to order water anyway, his training regime didn't allow for anything fizzy. Taking up a menu he placed it down in front of Star "Order whatever you like." Smiling he nodded as reassurance "Its my treat so doesn't matter what it is as long as you like it."
This part of dating he knew about at least, the girl was to be spoiled and made to feel special. Least he was sure that was what Alfred told Bruce, there was something about soup as well but Dick was pretty sure that was more to do with Bruce eating and not to do with dating. Almost totally sure that was the case. Mostly sure.

Starfire tilted her head a bit to the side as she noticed he seemed to be rather deep in thought. She silently wondered what he could be thinking about. Ask about it? No, he needed his privacy of course, that's why it was in his head and not out loud to where they both could hear it, but that was just fine. She didn't need to know everything that Robin was to think or say unless it was something dangerous of course.
Star smiled again when he seemed to come back to reality. She listened to him carefully, rubbing her fingers on the back of his hand a bit as she did so. "You are not alone, yet there are still many things in which I do not understand, so there are times in which I do wish I was, 'normal'..." She told him. "Or, at least was a little more like Blackfire, she has the easier way to understand Earth better.." she then lightly chuckled at his last statement. "That is true... I was the thief who took that from you."
Star looked up at the waitress that rolled over to them. she returned the bright smile that the waitress gave them with her own, and glanced down at the menu Robin had passed over, but there was no need for that. He did say whatever she wanted.
"I would like mustard please." Star told her happily, not really seeing the fact that it was weird to drink mustard.

Mustard. Robin grinned softly, that should have been expected. Looking up at the waitress who looked a little confused Dick smiled "A bottle of water and one of the mustard containers please. In fact if you could, could we get a new bottle from the kitchen. I don't mind paying for it. " Truth was the boy wasn't paying at all, Bruce was. Part of the agreement that Dick would attend high school was that Bruce took care of financial things for the boy. He was Dick's legal guardian after all.
Not like Dick was going to go mental and spend tons of money but tonight was going to be something to remember. For both of them. Well the human hoped so.
With the waitress gone Dick gave Kori a smile "You know that mustard isn't a normal drink right? We put it on our food in little amounts. Like a sauce. Not that that matters tonight, I did say we'd be just us and I'm sticking to that. Though if you have mustard breath at the end of tonight I'm getting you mints before I kiss you." A slight blush rose over his cheeks at the bold statement, he still wasn't used to saying things like that or the reaction his body had when he thought or spoke of it.
Shifting his gaze to the menu to hide the blush better Robin quickly changed the subject "The uh food looks good here. Any idea what you might order? Should we get things to share maybe?" Dick looked up at the alien with a smile "We could let you try a few new things that way if theres a couple of items that you'd like to taste."

Starfire continued to smile happily, still not getting the idea that it was rather strange to drink mustard. She did blink though. Star's green eyes looked down at Robin, who was smiling and talking to the waitress. So she folded her hands on the table, actually mimicking a woman not too far away and allowed them to talk. It wasn't too long after that the waitress rolled away. Listening to him though made her slightly worry if she was going to be expensive. Maybe she shouldn't concern herself with it.
Starfire looked at him and listened. "It tastes so good though.. It should be considered a drink... It comes in a cute container too.." She told him, huffing a small sigh that her favorite, uh, 'beverage' was not drank by everyone. Perhaps it made them sick if consumed in large quantities? She felt fine after drinking it. His next statement made her eyes pop a bit, and she also slightly blushed, but giggled as well. "Agreed." She said, watching him hide in the menu.
"I wish to try things you find appealing.." Starfire answered with a smile, feeling like they were really the only two here. She liked it that way. "Perhaps this is a possible choice?" She asked, pointing to something, having to lower his menu down to show him. It was just a regular burger, but it had a bunch of different meats on it.

"Sure, that looks good" Robin smiled with a nod "How about we order some side dishes, that way you get to try some new foods as well as some you know you like. I really want onion rings, been awhile since I've had those. Maybe some garlic mushrooms?" The waitress returned and placed the drinks down with a "Here you go, I'll be back shortly for your meal order" and skated off to another table. Looking at the fresh bottle of mustard Robin smiled, he had no idea how anyone was able to drink the stuff like it was apple juice. It was part of Kori's quirky charm however and he'd never let her change her habits. Not that he would have ever asked. Though he was worried how she would do with the human high school but she had him and the other titans to look out for her and help the alien get settled in. With a grin he produced a oddly bulging thing wrapped in sparkly paper "I picked you up this, its nothing big but when I saw it I thought you would love it." Pushing the object across the table toward her. It was light and not very large but big enough that it would rest across both her hands. "Well I hope you love it." There was always that moment of self doubt that came from buying a random present, but Dick was pretty sure that the alien girl would love it. It wasn't anything major, just a crazy straw that he has seen in a shop window earlier store.krazystraws.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=KS&Product_Code=Daisy&Category_Code=PremiumStraw]That looked like this but he was sure that when Star saw it fill with whatever she was drinking that it would make her giggle.

Star smiled happily as he said they could get it. "Yes, the rings of onions sound good!" she nodded in agreement. For a thin girl like Starfire, she really could eat a lot. Tamaranians did have nine stomachs. Of course she usually ate like a human would. Until she was on Tamaran. "If you are to eat the garlic then you are to also eat the mints" She told him with a bright smile as she then looked down and pointed to the regular fries and a little plate of fruits or vegetables of your choice. They should eat something healthy...
Star's eyes looked up at the waitress once more as she approached and placed their drinks down. "We thank you!" Star called after her with a wave.
Star looked back over at Robin, then down at the twinkling paper he slide over the table. honestly just the wrapping paper caught her interest. The small alien couldn't think of much to do besides stare and smile. Yet not to impose, she grabbed the object and carefully unwrapped the gift, seeing of how she didn't want to ruin the paper. It was a straw. It was pinked, and twirled into the shape of a flower. It made her catch her breath. Small gift, but it was something Starfire had never seen before. If there wasn't holes in the top and bottom, she never would have found out it was a straw.
Star quickly plucked it into her drink inside the yellow container and sipped form it, eyes closed from smiling so happily. as he predicted, she couldn't help but giggle. "I do, I love it very much so!" she told him cheerfully. Then her smile faded. "Oh, I was not aware though that we were suppose to bring gifts.. Forgive me, I have nothing to give you in return.." She told him, a wave of guilt washing over her.

When Star got him with his own joke about mints Dick spluttered a little mid sip of water "Uh yeah" the boy coughed "mints for us both"
Watching Starfire unwrap her present Robin watched her eagerly, all the while trying to decide what her reaction would be to it. Should he have explained what it was first? Probably not, after all part of the fun of learning about Earth was discovering what items could and couldn't be used for. Besides Star had used a straw before, just not one in such a shape.
When she started about not bringing gifts the dark haired teen shook his head "Don't worry about it Star, I saw it and had to get you it. Just one of those things." Robin smiled, he wasn't the most mushy of people but seeing her get so much enjoyment out of it was more than enough thanks for him.
"Ok, so a meat filled burger, onion rings, garlic mushrooms and we need another main?" Robin looked over at the oranged hair girl sucking mustard through a flower straw and grinned from ear to ear. That was his girlfriend, wacky and unlike anything else on the planet. Special and unique, most importantly the girl of his dreams.
"Your beautiful" Robin said softly under his breath, only really half aware that he had said anything at all.

Starfire blinked, a bit worried that he seemed to be having issues drinking his water. "You are alright..?" She asked him, eyes questioning and worried.
Star's eyes gleamed brightly as she drank her... unnatural beverage through her new straw. she loved it, it was pink, a flower, or shaped like one, and it was given to her from Robin in such pretty paper. She honestly didn't want to stop using her straw, but if she drank too much at one time then she'd need to get more later on and it may be a bother for the restraunt. The last thing she needed was them getting kicked out for her liking of mustard..
The Tamaranian blinked. "And, to get that, 'time', is natural..?" She asked him, not clearly understanding what he meant. Like the time she didn't understand cotton Candy. She still doesn't get it, why does it disappear every time she eats it?
Picking her menu up when he said another main, she picked something out. It was more like kabobs, meat on a stick along with grilled vegetables. "Perhaps this is appealing..?" She asked, glancing up at him. This was an unusual thing, they usually ate at the pizza place. Not often, if at all, did they go to another fast food place.
Starfire heard him say something, and slowly picked it out in what it sounded like. "Your beautiful" she blinked, and smiled softly to herself as a blush lightly painted her cheeks, pretending as if she didn't understand what he said.

Robin smiled and shook his head "I'm fine, just wasn't expecting you to talk about mints in that way. Caught me by surprise thats all." Using his napkin he dabbed around his mouth just incase.
At her question about buying things Dick nodded "Well when you get to know people you pick up their likes and dislikes. I'm sure you already do it now. Starts off with little things like remembering their favorite foods or colors and eventually you pick up on their habits. Like if you saw a really old interesting book you might think that would make a good present for Raven." Taking another drink the boy smiled "in this case I saw that straw and thought that you would like it."
With the subject of food still hanging the boy wonder nodded "That looks like a great thing to try, we'll get the mixed version so you can try all differant types of things. I like everything on those as well. So its not like any will go to waste"
Motioning to get the waitresses attention who soon skated over Robin smiled and gave the order not caring that the woman seemed confused as to why there was a girl sitting at the table drinking mustard through a crazy straw flower. Double checking the order the woman was soon off again to put it into the kitchin.
"So how are you finding having to go to school? I know I'm finding it hard, you must be finding it more so? If anything comes up remember you can ask me anything, I'll do everything I can to help. I promise." Robin smiled yet again, seemed like it never left his face currently.

"Oh.. Well as long as you are not harmed.." She told him, not exactly understanding what he meant, just was glad he wasn't hurt.
Star blinked and looked down at her container, swirling the straw a bit. "I see..." She mumbled slightly, realizing she still didn't know very much about Robin. She assumed his favorite color was red, and the personality she got down, somewhat, but he had mentioned that he trained with the best. Who was the best..? What happened to his parents, what brought him to Jump city, heck, she didn't know his birthday! Then again, that only provided him with just as little information on her, seeing of how he only knew about a little bit of her culture, powers, favorite drinks, but still didn't know about her past, fully. He knew how she got here and why she was though. Still, as the night progressed she was learning more about him, like food preference.
Star smiled widely, glad she has chose something he seemed to like. She nodded and watched the waitress look at her, now feeling a bit awkward, but didn't think it was because of her drink. Did she looked weird? Was there something on her? She couldn't see anything. She silently sighed.
Then Star groaned lightly as he mentioned school. "I am far from fitting in.. I do not think they like me very much.. I made their food go pucush.." She said with the arm motions of a small explosion. "...And they were very displeased..." She told him with a sigh. "but I did meet a nice boy, his name is Seth.. He seems, almost like Raven, just, not as... What you would say, sour?"

Robin nodded softly,, curious as to why her tone had changed so dramatically but let it slide for now as Star spoke about school. He had expected this and sort of blamed himself for not preparing her enough. That had been the plan as soon as they had been told about the return to High school but as always things got in the way. Its not like they could just ignore the fact that villains were there to prep for school. Yet it did seem to be bothering her.
At the mention of a nice boy Robin frowned like he always did, he was the jealous type even if there was no need to be. Probably due to the fact he never had that many nice things in his life apart from being a hero. "Seth huh?" Robin said carefully, trying to hide the negative thoughts. Though he did feel a lot more relieved when Star spoke about how this 'nice boy' was like Raven. "Probably isn't as 'sour' because hes just a normal human and not had the problems Raven has." Robin hoped that didn't come across as snappy but Raven had been through a lot and writing it off as sour seemed a little unkind to him.
Time to change the subject and fast Dick. Thankfully that wasn't needed as the waitress came back with their starters. The bowl of breaded garlic mushrooms and onion rings with a few dips."Thank you" the black haired teen smiled to the waitress who gave a your welcome before heading back to her other customers.
"You looked a bit unhappy before, did I say something wrong about the buying things?" "Robin picked up his fork and jabbed it into a mushroom and looked at the different dips unsure which to try first "You had a really serious look on your face, something you wanted to talk about maybe?"
